The explanations of the processes found throughout many of the political writings within George Orwell’s “Politics and the English Language” are exhilarating and thrilling. Pacification amongst nearly every count of political speeches are perfect examples of the wearisome and sensitive topic that most political speeches evolve around. A perfect example of this pacification is the fact that “Defenseless villages are bombarded from the air, the inhabitants driven out into the countryside, the cattle machine-gunned, the huts set on fire with incendiary bullets.” We may hear many examples like this thrown around in order to portray a more frightening example of what may happen amongst the topic, or more probable, this may be a perfect example of a bad writing.
When comparing the differences of modern English to the writings highlighted in “Politics and the English Language” they show a found difference in the way the topic is thrown around. The modern evolutional English writings are based solely on ease. Take a look at the ease of fast food restaurants compared to a few hundred years ago. The amount of ease upon our lives is tremendous. This is the same that goes in the effort of writing political, personal or plain horrible speeches and writings. As Orwell presented, as a modern English writer, we think of what we are trying to say, then think of the word that best describes this. Upon doing so, we think of an better word that will push up from roughly 5th grade writing into the collegiate levels that we are expected to be. Upon final conclusion, sometimes, the 5th grade word may have been exactly what we are trying to say. Unfortunately we replaced the true meaning that we were trying to per sway into a whole new context.
The Evolution from great writings into the phenomenon of bad writings is mostly a style that will never change nor be corrected. From the ease and complacency of writing being more abundant, and the political views staying the same, I foresee the changes in writing not taking on a great turn. I hope this changes, and hopefully the elimination of the Greek, Latin, and other influences will help.
